What does FHSCG stand for?
FHSCG stands for Fraser High School Color Guard.
When did FHSCG begin at Fraser?
FHSCG was first added to the marching band in 1980/1981.
What is color guard?
Color Guard is a combination of the use of flags and other interpretative movement. It is the energetic visual representation of a marching band.
Who can participate in color guard?
Any Fraser Schools student currently in 8th-11th grade!
Is the color guard part of the marching band?
Yes! While we operate as our own entity to accomplish learning and perfecting our techniques and routines, we are still a section of the marching band.
Do I need to have any music experience (band, choir, theatre, etc) to audition?
Nope! We have had plenty of students come through the program with zero music background/experience and flourish wonderfully during their time on the team!
Can I be in FHSCG while doing other activities (sports, clubs, work, etc)?
Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it! We never want to discourage students from branching out and exploring all their options while in high school. We do ask that students work to configure their time to equally split it between their responsibilities.
What is the average cost of being a member of FHSCG?
The average cost to participate in FHSCG ranges between $400-$500, including the cost of band camp. We do plenty of fundraisers to help offset the costs of dues for FHSCG!
